Sodium hypochlorite sterilizer for swimming pool

Brief introduction to water treatment process of swimming pool

Swimming is a sport integrating entertainment and fitness. Healthy, comfortable and safe swimming pool water quality will bring physical and mental enjoyment to swimming enthusiasts. As the human body inevitably produces a large amount of dirt and secretions in the process of soaking in the swimming pool water, and various bacteria and pathogenic bacteria will enter the water, the swimming pool water must be treated to kill harmful bacteria, ensure good transparency, and provide a comfortable, tasteless and pollution-free healthy water quality.

At present, the disinfection treatment of swimming pool water mainly includes chlorine agent disinfection method, chlorine dioxide method, ozone disinfection method, electrostatic sterilization and algae killing method, copper sulfate algae inhibiting method.

As a classical disinfection and sterilization method for water treatment, chlorine disinfection has a history of more than 100 years and is still widely used because of its strong disinfection ability, low price, and wide sources. The bactericidal effect of chlorine agent is mainly due to its strong oxidation and easy to pass through the cell wall. The main factors affecting the disinfection effect of chlorine agent include chlorine dosage, contact time, pH value, water temperature, turbidity, and the type and quantity of microorganisms in the water.

In recent years, the environmental and safety problems caused by chlorine disinfection have attracted more and more attention. As chlorine disinfectant can kill bacteria and viruses, it can also form amine chloride and trihalomethane (THM) with urea and organic substances secreted by human body. The volatilization of amine chloride will cause a special smell in indoor swimming pools, which will stimulate human eyes, ears, nose and throat mucosa. THM has been confirmed to be carcinogenic to mice. In 2001, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that THM was harmful to health, saying that long-term drinking of water with THM exceeding the standard could lead to canceration of the lung, liver and central nervous system, and THM in swimming pool water could pose a certain harm to health through human respiration and skin penetration.

In order to reduce the content of chloramines and trihalomethanes in swimming pool water and reduce their harm, they can be removed by coagulation sedimentation, activated carbon adsorption filtration and other methods. Chlorine dioxide or ozone disinfection can completely solve the above problems. In the 1940s, some European countries found that chlorine dioxide had a good effect on water disinfection, but it was not paid attention because of its complex manufacturing and high price. In recent years, when looking for new disinfectants to avoid the harmful effects caused by chlorine disinfection, the research and application of chlorine dioxide are increasing. The chlorine dioxide disinfection method has the following advantages:

(1) It can reduce the formation of chlorination by-products such as trihalomethane in water;

(2) When the ammonia content in water is high, it will not react with ammonia, so its oxidation and disinfection will not be affected;

(3) It can kill pathogenic microorganisms and viruses in water;

(4) Disinfection effect is not affected by water pH;

(5) After chlorine dioxide treatment, the residual chlorine in water is stable and durable, and the ability to prevent re pollution is strong;

(6) Because of strong oxidation, it can remove the color and taste of water, and does not form chlorophenol odor with phenol;

(7) The removal effect of iron and manganese is better than that of chlorine.

Selection of anode

The principle of producing sodium hypochlorite by electrode method is to use diaphragm free electrolysis to generate sodium hypochlorite through homogeneous secondary chemical reaction. The reaction principle of the anode is to electrolyze sodium chloride (tablet) put into the swimming pool. During electrolysis, sodium hypochlorite is formed. The most appropriate salt concentration is 3% - 5% The electrodes used in the sodium hypochlorite generator are plate electrode and tube electrode.

Coated titanium electrode can be selected as anode material. The mixed oxide coated titanium anode has a long service life. The overpotential of this coated titanium anode is also low, the chlorine evolution current efficiency is high, and the energy saving effect is good.

The anode of our company has high efficiency and long service life. It can also be applied to the following special working conditions:

  • Oxidation removal process (e.g. acid pickling);

  • Electrolytes for high speed operation;

  • Electrode reversal.

In view of the above application conditions, the company has developed special anode products that are very suitable for use to improve the use efficiency of salt and prolong the service life of anode. The main products are as follows:

  • Ruthenium metal oxide coated titanium anodes;

  • Iridium platinum oxide coated titanium anodes.
