Polymeric Conductive Flexible Anode | Eliminate Dead Zones in Cathodic Protection

Jun 05, 2026

What is a Polymeric Conductive Flexible Anode?

A Polymeric Conductive Flexible Anode is a continuous, linear anode designed for impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) systems. It is manufactured by extruding a homogeneous blend of conductive carbon black and high-performance polymers, forming a flexible, ribbon-shaped electrode with a stable conductive network. Unlike traditional point anodes, this anode discharges current continuously along its entire length, providing uniform current distribution to the protected metal structure.

Why Choose a Polymeric Conductive Flexible Anode?

No Protection Blind Spots: Point anodes create concentrated current near their location, leading to under-protection in distant areas. A flexible anode is installed along the entire pipeline or under the tank bottom, ensuring uniform current output and eliminating dead zones.

Adapts to Complex Geometries: The product is flexible and can be coiled. With a minimum bending radius of only 150 mm, it easily conforms to tank edges, pipe elbows, congested pipe trenches, and other irregular structures.

Short-Circuit Tolerant: The conductive particles within the polymer matrix automatically increase their resistance when compressed. Even if the flexible anode comes into direct contact with the protected pipe, it will not create a metallic short circuit, offering high installation fault tolerance.

Simple Installation: Requires only a shallow trench (300-500 mm). No concrete pouring or deep well drilling is needed. A single worker can easily pull and lay the anode.
