MMO coated titanium anode for cathodic protection of soil

Apr 10, 2023

MMO coated titanium anodes are easy to process, lightweight, and easy to handle and install, making them very suitable for cathodic protection in soil media. The surface of MMO coated titanium anodes is covered by highly catalytic active oxides, and the potential of the titanium electrode body at some gaps on the surface usually does not exceed 2V. Therefore, the titanium substrate will not undergo surface passivation film breakdown damage (when used in soil, the applied voltage is generally controlled below 60V). MMO coated titanium anodes also exhibit excellent physical, chemical, and electrochemical properties. The resistivity of its coating is 10-7 Ω. m, which is affected by an acidic environment, with low polarization and extremely low consumption rate. By adjusting the composition of coating oxides, they can be made suitable for different environments

The MMO coated titanium anode operates with a current density of 100A/㎡ in the ground bed, and its service life can reach 20 years. Its consumption rate is about 0.1mg/A.a. When the current density reaches 2000A/㎡, the electrode will not experience passivation or dissolution, and its performance is reliable. Anodes for cathodic protection in shallow soil, deep soil, and container protection conditions, with a current density of 100A/㎡ and a service life of ≥ 20 years

Due to the advantages of MMO coated titanium anodes that other anodes do not have, it has become the most ideal and promising auxiliary anode material
